Wanderlust – Travel in 2013 2H

Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.

~ Terry Pratchett

I’ve travelled the world and now I’m back home.  This time I want to go explore the 7000 islands in my own country.  Perhaps you’d like to join me?

Sabang Beach, Palawan

07 – 09 January 2013

After taking a break from my self-imposed international travel moratorium, I am now back to exploring some beaches.  Palawan is that long slender island off to the western edge of the Philippines.  It is home to the famous Underground River and popular El Nido resorts.  But there is so much of Palawan left to explore, that I’m considering taking up residence in the island.  So here’s to a quick reconnaissance trip, in the hopes of finding my personal  island paradise in the sun.

Borobudur, Jogjakarta

08 – 11 October 2013

Yes, this is not in the Philippines.  Yes, it is another UNESCO Heritage Site.  I’m a sucker for historic conservation like that.

I’m taking the opportunity to join my old college classmate on her whirlwind Asia-Pacific tour, and this is part of her Indonesian leg.  The timing couldn’t be better, as I am supposed to stop by Singapore for a conference on the way back to Manila.

Drop me a line if you want to join the fun!
